My thoughts on same sex marriage.

I do not support the Defense of Marriage Act or any other laws banning same sex marriage because the government has no business legislating morals or religious principles. I can't impose my views of marriage on others any more than I can impose baptism, prayer, or Bible reading on them.

However, I firmly believe that following close behind legalisation of same sex marriage will be discrimination charges targeting any clergy who refuses to perform such weddings on demand. The State of California is already going after businesses such as photographers and cake shops for turning away same sex couples. Gays shouldn't have a right to force participation in something a person believes is a sin. I don't know if the first case will be somebody who truly wants a church wedding or somebody who wants to start a test case but the possibilities trouble me and for this reason anyone expecting my libertarian leanings to push me into full support of their lifestyle will be disappointed.

Rapid fire weapons and high capacity magazines were not envisioned when the constitution was written

and therefore should not be protected by the Second Amendment. That's a favorite argument by the gun grabbers. If the founders could not imagine the destructive power of an AR-15 then they could not have intended for citizens to have a right to possess such weapons.

Ok, if you want to play that game then the founders had no idea we would one day have worldwide televison and internet with instant news. They had snail mail and printing presses. "Freedom of the Press" literally meant freedom with a press. Maybe the First Amendment doesn't apply to MSNBC and the Huffington Post.

I still think shutting down the government was stupid and counterproductive.

That being said, however, it is the height of arrogance for the president to make changes in implementation dates for part of the Affordable Care Act and then tell Congress that it can't touch the rest because it is "established law."

The president who wants to be known for looking out for the little guy took it upon himself to delay the employer mandate but the average Joe without company insurance is still required to get a policy by the original date. (How's that website working now?)

Both sides need to grow up and come together on an agreement NOW!

Let's get some things straight, Libs.

1. I do not support shutting down the government over the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare.) Let people work and earn a paycheck. Deal with legislative issues, I don't know, maybe LEGISLATIVELY?
2. I do not support the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare)
3. I am not a racist, no matter how much you want to paint me as such.
4. Conservatives didn't have a problem with Mitt Romney establishing a government regulated health care system STATEWIDE, and it wasn't because he was white.
5. Conservatives had a problem with Hillary Clinton wanting to establish a government regulated health care system NATIONWIDE, and it wasn't because she was a woman.
6. Conservatives have a problem with Barack Obama wanting to establish a government regulated health care system NATIONWIDE, and it's not because he is black.
7. My current insurance policy, "If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan" has its premiums increasing every year with no end in sight due to all the new regulations.
8. I'm not sure if we'll even have a company insurance plan "If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan" after next year, but that was your goal in the first place with your unions and government employees exempted from the regulations that are screwing the rest of us.
9. When it all falls apart "If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan" you will be claiming that the insurance companies are so greedy that it couldn't be fixed and the next step is a single payer system with the government finger on everything.
10. When we start dying during the months long wait for treatment such as patients in other countries suffer "If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan" the blood will be on your hands.
